Sing and Sign Choir Shines at Wigan's Accessible Carols and Choirs Event

Our Sing and Sign Choir recently had the privilege of performing at the inaugural Accessible Carols and Choirs event, an initiative born from Rowan Tree’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and accessibility in all we do.

The event was a milestone for Wigan, created in response to the challenges we faced last year when an event we had signed up for fell short of being inclusive for our learners. Rather than stepping back, we worked in partnership with Wigan Council and local educational institutions to establish a Wigan-wide event that prioritizes accessibility, inclusion, and meaningful collaboration.

To bring this vision to life, we provided resources, visuals, and tailored support, ensuring the event could be enjoyed by all, regardless of ability. From interactive sign-along elements to detailed planning for accessibility needs, every effort was made to make this event a model for inclusivity.

As the hosts and co-creators, the pressure was on for our Sing and Sign Choir to set the standard—and they absolutely delivered! With their heartfelt and beautifully performed carols, our pupils rose to the occasion, leaving the audience inspired and setting a high bar for future events.

The Accessible Carols and Choirs event was not just about creating a moment but laying the foundation for a lasting tradition. With plans to grow and improve this initiative in the years to come, we’re excited to see how this event will continue to unite and inspire our community.

A huge well done to our incredible learners for their hard work and dedication—you truly made Rowan Tree proud! 🌟🎵
